Stunningly artistic home with large terrace and free parking in the heart of Rome.
Location and Surrounding Area. Casa degli Artisti is part of a gorgeous 17th century palazzo located in the romantic heart of central Rome. The secluded street is a mere stone’s throw from the River Tiber but you won’t hear any noise from the traffic because the building sits on a no-through road and very few cars pass by. You’ll even be able to park right outside the front door.
Rome is a city dripping with history; from the wonders of Michelangelo’s artwork in the Sistine Chapel to the Colosseum and Imperial Forum, there is so much to see and do. The city was relatively undamaged during the Second World war and as such, the centre remains essentially renaissance and baroque in character. Not to be missed is a coffee in the famous Piazza Navona and the quintessential Campo de’ Fiori with its statue of the philosopher and mathematician Giordano Bruno in the centre. The nearby Pantheon is perhaps one of Ancient Rome’s best preserved buildings and the dome remains today, even after 2000 years, the world’s largest unreinforced concrete dome.
Casa degli Artisti is within a 15-minute-walking distance of the Vatican, Piazza Farnese, Campo dei Fiori, Piazza Navona, the Botanical Gardens, Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere and Villa la Farnesina with its spectacular frescoes by Raffaello.
Trastevere is about a half-hour drive from both Ciampino and Fiumicino international airports. There are also regular bus and train services from the airports to the city centre.
The Property. Casa degli Artisti has been home to many artists over the centuries. Both Giorgio De Chirico and Filippo De Pisis had studios here. During the 1940s, the house briefly became a famous candle-making factory and since the 1980s, Casa degli Artisti has been the residential home of its present owners.
The house sleeps up to 6 guests in three beautifully decorated, king-sized bedrooms, each with its own en suite bathroom. Casa degli Artisti is decorated throughout with stylish objets d’art and offers its guests a total of 250 square meters (2,700 square feet) of gorgeous, terraced open spaces.
The entrance is on the ground floor and leads up to the main house on the first floor where you’ll find a large kitchen, which opens out onto a magnificent terrace. The shady terrace is perfect for al fresco dining and comfortably seats up to 12 guests. There is also a formal dining room on the first floor, which again seats up to 12 diners. The spacious living room has French windows leading out onto the terraces. A fully-equipped laundry room completes the first floor.
The master bedroom is situated on the second floor and has its own bathroom, a separate wc and a walk-in closet. The other two double bedrooms with their own en suite bathrooms are on the third floor and there is also a useful kitchenette with a fridge and tea/coffee-making facilities for luxurious mornings with breakfast in bed.
